What to include

A useful report usually needs four things: what you expected, what happened instead, which device and OS version, and whether it happens every time or only sometimes. If the problem involves a gateway you run, say whether you were on your home network or away from it — that single detail resolves a large share of connection reports.

The app can export a diagnostic report from its Activity screen. It is generated locally from an allow-list, so you can open and read the whole thing before deciding to send it. We would rather you read it first.

What not to send

No credentials

Never send passwords, keys, certificates, or subscription URLs. We do not need them, and we do not want to be holding them.

No live endpoints

Server addresses and node details are yours. Describe the shape of the problem instead; if we genuinely need a detail we will ask for the narrowest version of it.

If you have already sent something sensitive, tell us and we will delete it and confirm.

Security reports

Send security issues to the same address with SECURITY in the subject. We will acknowledge receipt, tell you what we think the impact is, and keep you updated until it is closed. We will not take action against anyone for reporting a genuine issue in good faith.

Please do not test against infrastructure that is not yours, and do not include third-party data in a report.

Purchases and refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple and Google, not by us, so refunds go through the store you bought from. We have no ability to issue one and no record of your payment. If a paid feature is not unlocking after a successful purchase, that is a bug — write to us and we will fix it.

Source code

The mobile client is free software under the GNU General Public License version 3, and its complete corresponding source is published. The app's own licences screen lists every component it is built from, including the exact pinned revision of its network core.
